Opportunity Lockdown

Lockdown presents many opportunities with little distraction for me. I created my flower vases using the spring flowers from my garden and now what to do ?

I have been lucky enough to be taught by Valda Bailey and Doug Chinnery. Firstly I went on one of their trips to Northumberland which resulted in the Kelp series.

My next experience was in Borrowdale where they were joined by the inspirational Paul Kenny and the talented and ever patient (with me) Terry Gibbins . This trip resulted in my Earth, Fire and Water series, that I loved creating.

Now in lockdown I have turned to them again. Their series of videos are working their magic. Last night I listened to Valda wax lyrical about a concrete surface and had to go and try. Lots more work needed.

I have now embarked on a series which I will call Vanitas. Inspired by the Dutch 17th Century still life painters I am going to explore the illustration of the fragility of life and our vanity in valuing our lives and our possessions so highly. There I have committed myself.
