Kelp

What a revelation it was when sat on a Northumberland beach I saw the sun shinning through the seaweed. I lay down and began to take images of what I saw, a shiny yellow-green reflection. Once downloaded and edited these images became the basis for the series Kelp.

I imagined the seaweed free and floating in the deep ocean, the colour, the light, the complexity of that world beneath the grey sea. I imagined the layers of light and colour, the movement, the interdependency of the life forms.

I attempted to create my own interpretation of these thoughts, the result was The Kelp series.
